OpenSpace is a web-based application for reserving rooms/conference centers, registering visitors, and planning events at JPMorgan Chase-owned locations across the globe.

Overview

  • Collaborated with stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the product.

  • Took extra steps to bring the project back on track and ahead of schedule.

  • Developed high-fidelity, robust prototypes.

  • Maintained clear communication with stakeholders to ensure precise deliverables.

Solving the problem

OBSTACLES

  • Joined the project halfway through the design phase, taking over due to existing communication and implementation challenges.
     

  • Identified that product owners were struggling with navigating the design prototypes.
     

  • The UX design was lagging behind the sprint schedule, prompting the assignment of a new Scrum master mid-year.

PROCESS

  • Built strong working relationships with stakeholders, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
     

  • Streamlined the organization of design prototypes, reducing complications from earlier versions, which minimized conflicts and facilitated smoother reviews.
     

  • Dedicated significant effort to bring the project on track and ultimately ahead of schedule.

Outcomes

NO MORE TEMPLATES

  • The previous system required users to select a template; this is no longer necessary in the streamlined experience.

FEWER CLICKS, LESS SCREENS

  • The user workflow was optimized, reducing the process from 16 to 8 clicks and simplifying it from 6 to 3 screens to create a single booking.

WORK FLOW IMPROVEMENTS

  • Edit and cancel bookings with a single click directly on the Booking Details screen.

  • Manage services like ordering catering or registering visitors either during the booking process or individually as needed.

  • Comprehensive Getting Started Guide created for new users.
